Our House

So the last big hurdle in the move is selling our house. We've got it cleaned up and looking just about as good as it gets. Our Realtor made a virtual tour of it, check it out at this link:

Off We Go!

Matt Again.

Just got off the phone with a nice lady in Austin who offered me a job. It's a 15% raise for me with a great signing bonus. I'm in!

Matt Here.

We finally did it. Randy came over to our house last night and we signed papers and he went and put a sign and lock box in front of our house.

I was just thinking of all the work that had been done on our home (and the people who helped);

1. Replaced the old wood slat outside with new vinyl siding (thank you Peter and Adam)
2. Replaced much of the sprinkler system (thank you phone company for tearing it up when you dug a new trench for a new line)
3. Installed a new garage door and opener (thank you Utah winters for the inspiration)
Replaced all 8 aluminum windows with new vinyl windows (thank you Peter)
4. Finished basement, including framing, wiring, plumbing, dry-walling, painting, tiling, sweating, bleeding, nagging and crying. (thank you Justin, Jason and Blake)
5. New carpet up and downstairs (thank you Marcus for the dump trip)
6. Built new stairs and porch (thank you Jake)
7. Cut down the ugly pine tree (thank you Dan)
8. Put in new sod (thank you Ned and Aaron)

And a big thank you to Christa for supporting me and reminding me that her mother didn't think I could do whatever project I was currently working on. Also a big thank you to the city of Taylorsville for putting so many trash cans at the park nearest me; half my house is in those barrels.

P.S. I have a big interview in Austin tomorrow, here's to hoping with fingers crossed.

Update

Life is crazy around here! We've been working a lot on this crazy house, trying to have it ready for listing by Monday of next week. (It's gonna be a long weekend...) We got new carpet up and downstairs this week, it looks great! We are very excited to have the basement done, whew! Matt has an interview in Austin on Monday that we are greatly looking forward to as well. Everything is in motion to pull this move off, if we can just survive through the stress of it!

Nothing else to report, and no time to do it anyway!

Kite Flying

Lexi was pretty good at flying the kite. At first she struggled remembering to hold the string on run, but she got it after a while and had a blast doing it!

The Lone Hunter

Most of my childhood Easter memories include my cousins, the Tippetts. We would get together for a wonderful dinner, and hunt for easter eggs in their backyard. It was the perfect place for it, they had a hill covered in ivy which made for really good hiding spots. We liked that house so much my parents actually bought and moved into it when the Tippetts moved away. Anyway, they are really fun memories and I loved growing up so close to so many cousins that we could make memories with.

Well Lexi is finally old enough to grasp the idea of Easter, and I'm excited to start filling her mind with traditions and memories of her own. We dyed Easter eggs this week, the Easter bunny visited our house last night, and even hid some eggs in the backyard. Today we went out and found them. It was fun for her, but I couldn't help feeling a little sad she doesn't and probably wont have cousins to do this with maybe ever. She's got 2 cousins now (1 from each side), but geographically things just don't look like they'll be working out anytime soon, especially if we head off to Texas. But alas, not everyone is lucky enough to live close to family, right? Well just about everyone in the neighborhood here does...so we spend most of the smaller holidays entertaining ourselves and thinking it would be great to have some family around who'd invite us over for dinner :)

Here are some great pics from our day (the Easter bunny brought Lexi a kite, so we spent the afternoon at Wheeler Farm trying it out):

Easter Eggs!

Lexi and I dyed Easter Eggs yesterday. It was a lot of fun! She broke two eggs before they even got into the dye, and lost one more out of pure excitement. All in all it was a good time!
