A Valentine's to be thankful for

A few months back I scored a turkey from the store for a great price. We've been waiting for a good weekend to cook it up, and I thought Valentine's would be as good as any. We invited our good friends the Evan's, as well as the Barlow's to enjoy our Thanksgiving feast.

I took Brooklynn in for her 6 month check up, and she gained less than a pound in the 2 month period. The kid refuses to take a bottle of any kind, so we have been told to hit the solid foods hard and fatten this little girl up.
She says, 'yuck mom, peas are nasty!'


But peaches seem to make everyone happy.

Rainy Days

It has been very rainy around here the last couple of weeks. It's starting to make us a little stir crazy! Earlier this week we had our friends come over to hang out and play with peanut butter play dough.





Brooklynn didn't get to play with the PB playdough, but she got some attention from Lonna, which always makes her smile.


Brooklynn will be 6 months tomorrow, which means more shots at the dr's tomorrow :( She is working on her sitting-up muscles. We are also enjoying bananas, pears, and peaches around here. Unfortunately she is just like her sister and says blech to carrots and peas...we'll keep working on that one!

Happy Birthday Matt!

My mom has instilled in me the philosophy that birthdays should be celebrated all month long. We've really worked on that this month with Matt's big day. Earlier in the month I found some Lakers vs Spurs tickets on the internet, so Matt and a couple of buddies headed down to San Antonio for the big game. From what I heard, fun was had by all (well except for the fact that the Lakers lost...)

A few weeks later Matt's parents sent the Barracuda to Texas, on loan for a couple of years :) The weather was really great the week it arrived, and Matt drove it to work and took Lexi out a couple of times. I should have taken a picture then, as the weather has been lame for the last 2 weeks and he hasn't been able to take it out. He has been in the garage working on little maintenance projects and having a great time reminiscing the good old High School days. I'm sure pictures will come when the weather warms up.


The weekend prior to his birthday we had a party at Chuck-E-Cheese. This is by far our favorite place for an outing with the kids. (It's Wed morning and I've already been there twice this week...). We invited two of our couple friends and their kids. We all compared notes on where to win the most tickets, had some pizza, cake, and sang Happy Birthday.




On Matt's actual birthday (Jan 28th), our good friends from SLC flew in to visit Austin, Texas. Lynnie and Ned took us out to the Salt Lick for some authentic BBQ. We spent the weekend checking out some tourist sites, and even made it down to San Antonio for a visit to the Alamo. Again, I wish I took pictures, but I forgot my camera, and got distracted by the sites and the baby strapped to my back. I also got Matt Mario Kart Wii for his Bday, so we enjoyed many games of that.

All in all it's been a great month of celebrating! Matt works really hard for our family to be happy. (Oh side note--Matt got offered a new job as an Operations Manager for a company called American Health Imaging, he starts in 2 weeks--it's gonna be an awesome opportunity and we are all excited for it!) I am thankful for the husband and father he is, Happy Birthday to you!
