The Hall family does not love camping, but we love the ward camp-out :)
We love s'mores, and eating till we're sick!
We love friends like Nora!
We love searching for critters and bugs.
We love hanging out.
We love watching other people cook yummy food!
We love cracker jacks.
We love to share half eaten marshmallows.
We love Lonna & Stella.
We love roasting marshmallows!
& we love campfire songs. After we did all the things we love, we headed on out of there and skipped the things we don't, like sleeping in a tent, waking up cold, and searching for the flashlight in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Till next year :)

You are so right. All the fun things about going camping take place before bed and then if you go home after that and don't spend the night in a tent you are happy and rested the next morning.
I think that you should write a book on your clever tips and tricks of the trade for a happy family camping experience.
I think you guys did it the right way. All the good stuff, and none of the bad (unless you needed to go to the bathroom--baaaddddd).
