The weekend prior to his birthday we had a party at Chuck-E-Cheese. This is by far our favorite place for an outing with the kids. (It's Wed morning and I've already been there twice this week...). We invited two of our couple friends and their kids. We all compared notes on where to win the most tickets, had some pizza, cake, and sang Happy Birthday.
On Matt's actual birthday (Jan 28th), our good friends from SLC flew in to visit Austin, Texas. Lynnie and Ned took us out to the Salt Lick for some authentic BBQ. We spent the weekend checking out some tourist sites, and even made it down to San Antonio for a visit to the Alamo. Again, I wish I took pictures, but I forgot my camera, and got distracted by the sites and the baby strapped to my back. I also got Matt Mario Kart Wii for his Bday, so we enjoyed many games of that.
All in all it's been a great month of celebrating! Matt works really hard for our family to be happy. (Oh side note--Matt got offered a new job as an Operations Manager for a company called American Health Imaging, he starts in 2 weeks--it's gonna be an awesome opportunity and we are all excited for it!) I am thankful for the husband and father he is, Happy Birthday to you!

Glad we could be small part of his b-day celebration. Isn't it funny that we take millions of pictures of our kids when we do stuff with them but when it's just us "adults" we forget the camera or we don't take a lot of picts! Next time we'll get more, right?!
First of all, I love that you do month-long birthdays. I've traditionally celebrated a week, but I think the month sounds good too :)
Second, I love your craigslist finds. I'm starting to obsess over repurposing.
Thirdly, that's pretty cool that you were thinking of Madelynn (spelled like that!) too. I'm glad you like it. Adam and I have never agreed on a boy name--maybe that's why we haven't had a boy yet :)
And finally I have to say that Matt looks very happy in these birthday photos. It is easy to remember him as a kid from his faces! :)
I think that you really are on to something with the month long celebrations, I really think I will try to talk James into letting me celebrate all month long, I don't know if he will go for that, but after seeing all the fun things that you and Matt did for his birthday I think it is worth a try.
James told me that he thinks that I am spoiling the kids by letting them go to Chuck E. Cheese's so often but who can complain when they do so well there, and everyone comes out a winner, oh yeah and it has been super nasty wet outside.
I am on your side, who cares that it is only half way through the week and we have been there multiple times. You are a great wife and mother, I don't know if I would have gotten James tickets to a game and then had him go with his friends. You are way nicer than me.
