Happy Birthday Matt!

Today is Matt's 27th birthday, whew he is getting old! Matt's mom made scrapbooks for all of her boys, and this is page #1. He's looked good from day 1! In honor of this great day, I'd like all of you to leave a comment with your favorite memory of Matt, whether you've known him 1 year, 5 years, or all 27 years.

I'll start! The memory that always brings a smile to my face dates back to our dating days, about the time we were probably both thinking we might want to move to the next level, but neither of us wanted to look too eager. We had just finished a Sunday dinner at the Hall house, and were watching 'Fiddler On the Roof'. In that play, the main character Tevye sings a song to his wife titled 'Do you love me?' Some of the lyrics go something like this:

(Tevye)
Do you love me?

(Golde)
You're a fool

(Tevye)
"I know..."

But do you love me?

(Golde)
Do I love you?
For twenty-five years I've washed your clothes
Cooked your meals, cleaned your house
Given you children, milked the cow
After twenty-five years, why talk about love right now?

After the rest of the family went to bed, Matt said something to the effect of 'I know you haven't washed my clothes or milked my cows for 25 years, but do you love me?'...and of course I knew I did! So now that I've sufficiently embarrassed him with his softer side, let's see what your memories include!

Happy Birthday Matt, I'll love you forever! And if Lexi could type she would say 'Wuv you Dad!'

When I think of my favorite memories, I have to pick one out of a few that make me laugh. Matthew being the comic relief at our home. When Matthew was 2 or 3, he was sent to his room, imagine that. He wanted out, so he opened the bedroom window and climbed out to escape. Only thing,we lived upstairs, so he hung there for quite some time before some kids passing by from school saw him and yelled for help. A very determined boy from very early, I knew I had my hands full! It's a great celebration for me too!! Love! mom

One of my favorite memories was the first date we went on with Matt and Christa. They had not been dating long and Matt invited Christa to a David Copperfield Magic Show in Los Vegas. It sounded so great Tom and I asked if we could go too, then we invited Yannette and John. Matt and Christa sat at their table, and the four of us sat at a table overlooking them. Matt was a really good sport, and even managed to get on stage to help with a magic trick.

Hope you had a Happy Birthday, Matt!

I remember the first time we all met Matt...when he came to visit you at work, Christa. Good ol' DWS. He was wandering through the isles of the cubicles and everyone started whispering, "Hey, that must be Christa's husband!"
