The lovely world of dieting!

Everyone has their ideal weight, I know I sure do! And every couple of months I get on the scale and gasp at what it has to tell me. Truth be told, I get on it more then every couple of months but I usually ignore it until it's really a problem. So after the reality has set in, I jump on the weight watchers diet really diligently and get back down a couple of pounds...until the vicious cycle starts again. Well this month I had some new inspiration. While I was in California my mother-in-law was on the Master Cleanse, and she thinks it's the greatest! I have heard good things, and the thought of losing 10 lbs in 10 days had me sold! For those of you who don't know anything about the Cleanse, let me tell you all about it. So you drink this mixture of lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and grade B organic maple syrup. You drink this 6 times a day, and the only other thing you can have is a laxative tea, herbal tea, or water...for 10 days! The theory behind it is to rid your body of all the toxins and become on with nature again...or something like that. The bonus is losing weight, and also detaching your body from sugar and other junk so you can continue to lose weight. Sounds like a good idea right? Well I sure thought it would be great. I talked it over with Matt and got him on board, and then went out and bought a box of lemons and made a special trip to the health food store for some organic syrup and laxative tea. So Day 1 starts out like this, it was a Sunday, and both Matt and I are ready to jump start out internal organs with lemons and laxative. We had slept in a little and thought we'd better take a double hit of the lemon concoction. I made it up and handed Matt his tall glass. He downs the thing in one swig, and says well, that's not so bad! So I think, well if he doesn't think it so bad, I can do this! I took a really big drink, and I seriously thought it was gonna come all back out. Oh man, it was just SO awful! But I wouldn't quit, so I drank some more...eeekkk! fortunately I kept it all down, but I decided to wait a few minutes before I took the last of it. Now my mother-in-law did warn me if the cayenne sets in, it gets hotter...but I must have forgotten that advice and when I went for my last drink, I thought my eye-balls were going to pop out! The thing burned the whole way down, and for the next hour I thought my insides were burning. When I finally recovered, it was time to start again. Matt took his drink without any fuss...and I managed to get it all down again, but I thought I was going to cry. All day long we did this, Matt drinking his, and then making fun of me while I tried not to puke it all up. I think the most supportive thing he said all day was 'suck it up Christa' Day 2 started up and we were still going strong, I made it half way through the day, and then I went over to a friends house for a play date. I'd been there 15 mins and my stomach started to turn on me. I hadn't really noticed the effects of the laxative tea until then, but I sure thought I was going to die. Lucky enough for me she only lives down the street, so I packed Lexi up and headed out of there as fast as I could. Man o man, if you are going to do this diet, don't plan on going any where for the duration of it, cause you just never know when it is going to strike. The both of us made it to the end of day 2, but by then, I'd had enough. I told Matt I just couldn't handle it anymore! So you can call me a wimp, baby, whatever you want! but you couldn't get me to drink that cayenne pepper again to save my life. So I'm back on the weight watchers and working out with The Firm, and I know it takes longer to lose the weight, but at least I'll save myself from embarrassing moments at play group.

Oh, so Matt did it with you too, eh? So fun! That would be a hard cleanse... and how long did Matt survive the spicy juice?

Hate to say it, but I'm glad you only lasted two days. Exercise and weight watchers is the safer way to go.

I have learned from my doctors that this is a great way to cleanse your body....that being said, I only lasted two days as well;)
