I know I haven't posted in a week or so, and for those of you who are avid readers, I do apologize. But we have been partying it up Mid-West style out in Nauvoo. We flew into Kansas City, Missouri and stayed over night. The next day we went out to Independence and visited both he LDS visitors center, and then the Community of Christ (the reorganized church). The seashell looking building is their temple. They had some amazing artifacts in their museum from the Saints first days. Then it was off to Far West, and then Adam-ondi-omen. Both were great stops and we were excited to see these places that we have grown up hearing about. We made it to Nauvoo later that evening after lots of renditions of the 'Happy Song', 'Spider Song', and 'Duck Song', to keep Lexi smiling. We stayed in an awesome hotel downtown Nauvoo, we could even see the Nauvoo temple from our windows. And although it may sound trivial to you, the bathtub is definitely worth mentioning. You could take a swim in that thing, it was great! The next day we spent touring Nauvoo. We toured many of the homes, and took a wagon ride pulled by a horse. Matt and I only took half the tour, as Lexi wasn't feeling it that morning...but it was great while it lasted! In the afternoon we did a session at the temple, which was such a wonderful experience to participate with Hall family. We don't get the opportunity to go through with family, and I was thankful Peter was able to join us as well. Many thanks to Jason who stayed back with Lexi. In the evening we saw a few of the Nauvoo shows put on by the performing missionaries. It was a nice evening spent out on the grass enjoying the entertainment. Sunday we went to the local ward, and spent some time walking around the town. Monday we went to Carthage Jail and took the tour there. We were all impressed with the preservation there, they had actual window panes and wood floors from the days of Joseph Smith. The tour was very well done, and there is a sweet spirit there, despite the tragedy that occurred. On our way back to St Louis we stopped at Hannibal, and had a tour of Mark Twain's boyhood home. Then one last stop at the St. Louis arch, that thing is awfully impressive. So that's the hugely abbreviated version, so you'll have to go on the trip yourself to get more details. All in all it was a GREAT time had by all! Many, many, many thanks to the Hall family for letting us tag along and for all the patience that was shown to Lexi!
